The Residencia de Estudiantes

This plate commemorates the important influence of the Residencia on the scientific life in Spain from its creation in 1910 until 1936, the silver age of Spanish science. Under the supervision of Blas Cabrera, director of the neighbouring Laboratory of Physical Research, the Residencia hosted many prominent scientists, including the physicists Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Arthur Eddington, Maurice de Broglie and Paul Scherrer, greatly fostering the advance of modern physics in Spain.
